How To Turn A ESV Journal Bible Into A Timeless Gift

Ever since the ESV Journal Bible has hit the Internet, I’ve been obsessed! Seriously, what a great memento of a faith journey to look back on.

I have always loved the thought of my children and grandchildren reading my Bible notes. I love valuable, timeless gifts that show my children how much I love them.

I decided to purchase each of my children, starting with my son, their own ESV Journal Bible. My husband and I will fill these Bibles with our prayers for our little ones, advice to guide them, notes on the Scripture and verses that we are going to claim for their lives. We plan on giving this Bible to them when they turn13, as their “adult” Bible. We also plan on starting to keep these Bibles when the babies are about one, so we have a lot of time to really make it special.

As you can see, these Bibles are perfect for this gift because they have wide margins. If you are the artsy type, you can draw in the margins or create a scrapbook like effect. I’m not that great of an artist, so I stick with words. 🙂 I like to take a few minutes to write something in my son’s Bible while I’m doing my quiet time in the evening. I read the book, The Power of a Praying Parent, pray the prayer for that day, and let God lead me if there is something I need to add.

Over the years, we plan on bringing this Bible to their celebrations and letting their Pastor and family members write in it.  This Bible is a leather version that will hold up over time. We’re making sure to leave him some space to write his own notes, but already the pages are getting filled.

This would be a cool present to give to your future spouse, a loved one facing deployment or even your spouse. I am so excited about this present because it’s like God’s love letter to my children is combining with the best love letter I could ever write to them.

Now to hold off on giving it to them until they turn 13..
