Walking in the Light

Have you ever gone through a rough season? I’m not talking one bad day, I’m talking weeks and maybe even months of bad breaks! As Christians, we aren’t promised that we’ll have an easy life. Actually, we’re told the opposite by Jesus himself who said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

We aren’t promised lattes and rainbows, but we are held through our hard times by Jesus who has overcome and who gives us strength to do the same. We can have joy in our circumstances knowing that there are peace and meaning to be found in whatever we go through. If you’re struggling through life right now, it is easy to feel like you’ll never be able to keep your head above the waves. Here’s a life preserver for you..

In John 8:12 we read that, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” You may have wandered into a dark place, but you absolutely do not have to walk in that place. Instead, you can walk hand and hand with Jesus, following His every footstep and trust Him to show you the way. He will never lead us astray.

We might fear, but we can choose to look fear in the face and trust in the One who conquered death. We may feel anxious, but we choose to place our worries in the hands on the God who owns the world. We might find ourselves in dark places, but we choose to keep our heads up and press forward into the destiny that Jesus has for us.

The trials that your facing are simply a season, not your permanent destination. Take heart in the fact that you are loved, you are held and turn your face towards the Light today.

You are so much more mature and wiser than I was at your age. Never stop growing, dear Cate. We grow in the Lord until we are with Him. <3
