How to Have a Great Monday!

The house is a wreck. The tinies are crying and a healthy breakfast? Forget about it! You’re lucky to scrounge up a bowl of cold cereal because..It’s Monday.

Mondays have a reputation for being hectic. If you’re anything like myself, chances are, you go into total relaxation mode on the weekends. While it’s a great idea to take some time for yourself, having absolutely no intention on Sunday can create one horrific Monday. My life used to look a lot like the crazy house that I described. I’d hear the word “Monday” and groan. I’ve actually grown to look forward to Monday though. Since I started including a few habits into my Sunday, Mondays have become a fresh start, a chance to relax and begin the week intentionally. I’m sharing those tips with you today so we can create a Monday we love together.

How to Have a

Prepare the Night Before

I know I talk about this a lot, but it really helps your days go smoothly! Just a few minutes of prep work and my Monday morning goes so much better. Even bleary eyed, I can still halfway pull it together thanks to thinking ahead! Preparing the night before is going to look different for everyone. The key is to think of a few things that you can do to save time in the morning. I like to choose those things that I normally rush to do the next day. Those tasks are things like making my husband’s lunch the night before, possibly prepping a crock-pot meal, laying out clothes and doing a fast pickup so that I don’t wake up to total chaos. Prepping takes me maybe half an hour at the most and it saves a lot of valuable time the next morning!

Start the Day with the Right Mindset

When you go into a day expecting it to be terrible, chances are, it’s going to be terrible! It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Choose to think of Monday as your fresh start, your chance to get it right, and a blessing. If you aren’t a morning person, fake it till’ you make it! Faking a smile and energy can actually trick your body into acting the way you’d like it too.

Starting your day with the right mindset also means taking steps to fill your mind with positivity before your day starts. Reading God’s Word and spending time in prayer automatically put your mind in a good place. It reminds you of biblical truths and gives you the right perspective. Letting the love of God fill you gives you the ability to fill others with that same love.

Celebrate

Que the corny party music, it’s time to celebrate your life! Whether your celebration is as small as a special cup of coffee, or you choose to throw a breakfast party, the point is to find a bit of magic in this normally mundane day. I love including my kids in this, so we will normally have a dance party and make a “better” breakfast than normal.

Take it Easy

Sometimes, this isn’t possible, but, whenever you can, take it a little easier on Mondays. Do things a little slower, savor life more and try to ease into your day. If I try to rush into a morning, especially a Monday morning, the whole day feels crazy and my mood suffers.

Add a Little Self-Care

Do something special for yourself today. Listen to your favorite song, read, paint your nails or take a bubble bath. Adding this element of self-care to the start of your week will refresh you and you’ll be ready to tackle the rest of the week!

Try a Mood-Booster

Mood-boosters are those little things you do that instantly make you feel happy. It might be a walk outside, diffusing your favorite essential oils, or a song. Sprinkle those mood-boosters throughout your day whenever you need a little burst of happy!

How do you make Monday’s awesome?
