Memory Making Mom by Jessica Smartt is one of my favorite mothering books I’ve read this year! This book is full of practical advice to help you “build traditions that breathe life into your home”. I’m a strong believer in going the extra mile in crafting an intentional home for my family. It can be hard to know where to start when creating traditions, though!
There are so many resources out there, different holidays to celebrate, and sometimes, you just don’t have the brain space to think of a meaningful way to mark an occasion. I appreciate books like Memory Making Mom because they give me a kick in the pants and get me really excited for my family’s future.
Memory Making Mom starts out by giving you the why behind traditions. Why you should create them, what traditions do for the heart of your family, etc. Then, Jessica goes into detail with different aspects like faith, work, rest, birthdays, and food. Each chapter has a bit of spiritual encouragement that corresponds with each aspect, as well as a few practical ideas to get the ball rolling.
Want to go straight to the practical? The end of the book has an index with ideas sorted by holiday/aspect/occasion. There are also FAQ that clear up common misconceptions about being a Memory Making Mom like finances, single motherhood, and even a spouse who isn’t on board.
If you’re looking for a book that will get you excited about being the heart of your home, this is it! You’ll close this book feeling refreshed, excited, and inspired to craft a memory filled life for your family.
