In a world where “look at me” is the key message, one can have an identity crisis in those moments where we aren’t in the spotlight. Even the most introverted person gets that rush of adrenaline when their perfect, aesthetically pleasing Instagram photo breaks their record for likes. Most of life doesn’t look like our profiles, though. Life is messy, it’s mundane, it’s totally not Insta worthy and to be honest? Most of the time, no one would really care to see what our days look like.

We don’t live on the mountaintop of being seen. We live in the rich, rolling plains of being hidden. So, what do we do with this information? How can we live a fulfilling life in the small things? This book explores the beauty of being hidden in God. We learn about an important character of the Bible who was content to give her all to Jesus, even when she thought she was unseen.
I liked this book because it brought me a total perspective shift. It made me value the hidden moments of my day. It made me realize that my deepest pain is actually the place that God can speak to me the most in and it inspired me to love Jesus more. It solidified my knowledge that big isn’t always the best, that life can be beautiful simply because I belong to Jesus and that time spent with God is never wasted.
I love Sara Hagerty’s words. They’re deep, yet relatable. This book really stuck with me and made me want to be like Mary; a woman who pours her life out for Jesus daily. I think this is a message that everyone needs to hear. I know I’ll be thinking about this book again and again.
