Long Days of Small Things by Catherine McNeil is a call to cherish the little things. It’s a movement to bring a little bit of awareness to the things that you’re doing and to connect them with something bigger than yourself. This is a different book than your usual Mama self-help book and I appreciated the unique perspectives given. I learned to think of the smallest things like dishes in a whole new light.
As a fellow Mom who can hardly find time to shower let alone practice spiritual disciplines, I really benefited from McNeil’s words. I learned that anything can become a spiritual practice if you learn to view it as such. The author is relatable and doesn’t come at you from a “SuperMom” stance. She admits the need for busy Moms like herself to find spiritual balance with God and is relatable. I loved the action steps that Catherine included. They really brought the book to life.
If you’re looking for a little more “Zen” in your life, this book is a must-read.
