Francine Rivers is one of my favorite authors because she writes gritty, beautifully imaged books that always make me think. This book was no different.
Grace is that girl who is almost too nice for her own good. She marries a man who uses her and she makes a bad decision one evening that changes her life forever. Grace’s character is strong. She is a single mother, she witnessed a terrible tragedy at a young age and she works hard to support her son.
Roman is a misunderstood artist who has little faith in Jesus. He paints beautifully, but he has a secret. He’s moonlighting as a graffiti artist. When he hires Grace to be his personal assistant, they find that they have more in common than they think. Grace is able to witness to Roman and something happens to him that makes him think twice about his views on life.
This book was interesting because the characters stories were woven together in a way I would never have expected. I would recommend this book to older teens because in a similar fashion to Redeeming Love, there is some grittier material. Overall, this book provides a great glimpse of the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and how when He comes into our lives, we can’t help but be different.
